Learn + Earn
A career readiness program that jumpstarts students’ careers as they complete their degrees.
Overview & Objective
Many students struggle to launch their careers after college because they’re entering
shifting marketplaces without the practical skills to excel. Learn + Earn is a career
readiness program that bridges the gap between education and employment. It jumpstarts
students’ careers as they complete their degrees by providing compensated professional
training, 1:1 career coaching, career exploration and networking opportunities, and
eligibility for strategic financial support (e.g., Summer tuition, professional exam
preparation). Learn + Earn empowers students to navigate our rapidly changing world
by helping them explore new paths and experience self-determined success.
The program will be open to any undergraduate student employed on campus as they complete
their degree, regardless of class or major. Additional details can be found on the
Learn + Earn website.
Partners
Learn + Earn is funded by the Strada Education Foundation which supports programs, policies, and organizations that help strengthen the link between education and opportunity.

Status & Next Steps
Phase 1 is currently underway and began in the fall of 2024. It is assisting 160 student employees who are currently working for the Office of Undergraduate Studies or U Health.
Approach
Participants will experience a four-part program that starts with developing self-awareness, articulating career goals, and understanding how their on-campus jobs support this path. Further modules build on this foundational understanding, letting students research and compare careers, pursue experiences, and apply for jobs in their desired, self-identified field. All this is done with the help of 1:1 career coaches and through self-guided training modules.
Details
Learn + Earn is currently running a Phase I Pilot with students who are employed at the Office of Undergraduate Studies and U Health. Further Phases will extend the Program’s reach to high school students enrolled in CTE (Career and Technical Education) Certificate Programs.
